Oil and Natural Gas Upstream Processes are Prevented From Producing Greenhouse Gases by Vapor Recovery Units

A Vapor Recovery Units is a set of components that includes a scrubber, compressor, and switch. Its main purpose is to collect vapours that have formed inside sealed tanks. Storage tank vapours are hazardous to the environment. Due to their environmentally friendly and efficient nature, as well as their ease of use, vapour recovery units are in high demand. VOCs (volatile organic compounds) are chemicals that vaporise at room temperature and are a major source of pollution at ground level. Various state regulatory bodies have imposed strict environmental regulations to recover VOCs. For example, the National Volatile Organic Compound Emission Standards (40CFR 59) regulates VOCs at the federal level in the United States.

Vapor Recovery Units prevent greenhouse gas emissions from oil and natural gas upstream processes. When underground crude oil is brought to the surface and stored in a storage vessel, it contains some composition of gas vapours. Methane is the most common component of these vapours (between 40-60 percent ). To name a few, other vapours include propane, butane, ethane, nitrogen, and carbon dioxide. Methane, of course, is a greenhouse gas that stays in the atmosphere for 9-15 years and traps heat in the atmosphere 20 times more effectively than carbon dioxide (CO2).

In addition, consumer products are governed by 40 CFR 59 Subpart C, which includes defined parties' responsibilities, definitions, record-keeping requirements, labelling requirements, and reporting requirements. The Vapor Recovery Units Market is segmented by horsepower, application, end use, and region. The vapour recovery units market has been divided into five categories based on horsepower: up to 50 HP, 51 to 200 HP, 201 to 500 HP, 501 to 1,000 HP, and above 1,000 HP. Oil tank vapours, marine loading terminals, barge degassing, truck loading, vapour particulate filter, railcar loading, and storage terminals are all segments of the vapour recovery units market. The vapour recovery units market has been divided into four categories based on end use: oil & gas, landfill, chemicals & petrochemicals, and pharmaceuticals.
